EREMIAH PEARCE WILL 
 

                              Cumberland County, VA

In the name of God amen, I Jeremiah Pearce of the county of Cumberland being in perfect health and memory do appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form following, first I give 
and bequeath to my Daughter Elisabeth Harringdon one negro named Phill, which she has already in her possession. 
     Item: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Millione hundred and thirty nine pounds ten shillings paper currency which she has heretofore received. 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Amy ______ two negroes to wit, Adam and Philis, which slaves she has already in her possession 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Rachale one negro to wit Sampson one feather bed and furniture it being the same that she now lies on.  I also give to the children of my son Edmond ten shillings Current money each. 
     Item: I give and bequeath Bauldwin two shillings Current money. 
     Item:  I give to my Daughter Anna Angela, one negro to wit, James. 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna Lee one negro to wit, Lucy. 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Phebe Chafurian (?) two negroes to wit,  Joe and Vilet. 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sarah G. Anderson one negro to wit. Rodah. 
     Item:  I give and bequeath to my Daughter Franky four negroes to wit, Jack, Cromel, 
Daniel, Winney, which said slaves as above named I hereby give t them and their heirs forever 
my will and meaning is that my three daughters first above named to wit. Elisabeth, Mary and 
Amy, my be excluded from having any part of my Estate after my decease except the Legacies 
already in their possession as above mentioned, my will and meaning is that my two sons to wit, 
Baldwin and Martin together with the children of my son Edmond may in the like manner be 
excluded from any part or dividend in my Estate after my decease accept the ten shillings 
Currency as above bequeathed, my will and desire is that all my Just debts may be paid, from the 
money arising from the sale of my stock of all kinds, the remainder if any together with my 
household and Kitchen furniture of all kinds I hereby give to my said daughter Frankey together 
with the said four slaves to wit Jack Cromel, Daniel, & Winney, to her and her heirs forever, 
lastly I appoint Miller Woodson Charles Lee Junior, Samuel Chapman my Executors of this my 
last will and testament. I hereby revolk all other wills, or legacies by me hertofore given or 
bequeathed confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, in Testimony wherof 
I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this Twelfth day of May 1792.

At a Court held for Cumberland County the 25th day of January 1796 This last Will & Testament of Jeremiah Pearce decd. was entered in Court & the witnesses 
thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Miller Woodson one of the Executors in the said will named, who made oath  according to law is granted him for obtaining a probat 
thereof in due form on giving bond & securety whereupon   he John Woodson and John Holiman get his securities entered into bond conditioned  all to law and liberty is reserved ___ ___ other 
Executors to join in probat when they ___ proper.
