Welcome to Blaine County Oklahoma

Hi Come on In. I am the Local Coordinator for Blaine County, my name is Katy Hestand and you can reach me at This email address is being protected from spambots. Or, you can post a query.

In 1890, this county was designated simply as "C" County.  By treaty with the Cheyenne and Arapahoe tribes, on 19 April 1892, the county was officially opened to settlers by land rush.

Also on that date, the county name became Blaine in honor of James Gillespie Blaine, Senator, Speaker of the House, and Republican candidate for President in 1884.

The County seat is Watonga, named for Wa-ton-gha, Arapaho Chief.
The word means black coyote.

If you have anything that you would like to add, please send it to Katy Hestand

I am presently accepting photo's for the new album. You are free to submit any photo that you would like that pertains to Okahoma and it's people, so long as it isn't offensive or that of a living person. Please be sure the photo isn't under copyright. Use the form to the left or click here.

Some of the links aren't connected yet, because I am still doing research on them and they aren't ready yet. If you have information that you would like to contribute for those links, please feel free to send it to me.
